The best way to avoid heartache is to store your jewelry separately in protective boxes or pouches. You can even get creative with your storage solutions by showing off your collection in cute accessory holders.

Clean your jewelry the right way

We’re probably tempted to just store our jewelry right away after using them but properly cleaning your treasured possessions will help them last a lot longer. For pearls, it’s best to wipe them with a dry and soft cloth after every use. 

Diamonds, meanwhile, will need to be soaked in warm water that’s been mixed with a mild soap solution. Wait until the water reaches room temp and gently brush them with a soft bristled brush. Rinse them out completely and wipe them dry with a soft cloth. You don’t need to do this after every use, but only when your gems have accumulated a lot of dirt. Feel free to do this once in a while!

Know when to take your accessories off

Jewelry can make or break an outfit but did you know that specific activities can have a negative effect on your pieces? If you’re going to be working with your hands or dealing with chemicals, it’ll be best to keep the jewelry off. If you’re heading to the beach or to the pool, we also advise not to accessorize as water can cause discoloration and even disintegration.
